I’ve got a thing about quotes. I used to have one at the bottom of my email signature that I changed regularly. Maybe I should redo that. But the best quote that has ever been shared with me is the following
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
Gandhi said this, and I truly think it is a wonderful sentiment to live by. It feels so powerful, its not just about treating others how you want to be treated, or believing in yourself, though I do think this is part of the message, but to me it feels like it is saying, go out there and make things happen, for you, your family and the rest of the world. Don’t just accept the norm, make change happen. And that is pretty special.
So, blog readers, go out there and make things happen for you and the people you love. Noone else will.
I like this one! I get so frustrated with people at work who just sit back and expect good stuff to land on their desk, as though it is their right. If you want something or want to change something go and get it! Gandhi definitely had it right.
My favourite quote is the total opposite of this however. It comes from the late, great Douglas Adams: “I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by”. Words I live by. More philosophy here: http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Douglas_Adams/
I know what you mean. I’ve had one of those days myself today, I’ve spent about half a day over the last 3 days trying to get someone to own a problem.. its not a big one, or at least it wasn’t – but its grown to be a real beast.
I shall check out Mr Adams!
