An update…

Untitled designI really do suck at this blogging thing! I have all these good intentions when I start out, and then how quickly does it all fall off the radar! So Wednesday currently posts have gone out the window, lets just look at where things are at at the moment!

Watching
We’ve cancelled our sky subscription so are watching a bunch of stuff before it runs out (things we’ve recorded so will lose on our box). We are also currently (I mean literally as I type!) watching live artwork being made on periscope. It’s a phone app that lets you see people’s live casts and our friend Salty has been live casting him doing artwork this weekend. It is amazing and really quite therapeutic to watch! You should check it out.

Daredevil – We’ve watched this Netflix original over the last week or so, I loved it, it was gritty and compelling, but very violent and in some places quite graphic. The guy who plays Matt Murdock is a Brit, he was in Stardust the film (which was filmed in Norwich!)

Pitch Perfect 2 – We had the week off this week and went to see the follow up to Pitch Perfect. I was expecting to walk out feeling a bit disappointed (sequels are never as good!) but this was brilliant!! I really really enjoyed it!

Marvel’s agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – We’ve had this on the box for a while and have been working our way through this weekend. The problem is that we forget what happened previously!!

Reading
I’ve just finished a book called An Ice Cold Grave by Lee Weeks. I’m on the look out for more of hers as I’ve been impressed with the two I’ve read.

I also finished a Debbie Macomber book whilst we were on holiday, but I can’t remember what it was called!

Doing
We’ve had a week off work this week so we’ve had a lovely week of days out, doing little jobs around the house and generally enjoying ourselves.

We went to Thetford Forest on Tuesday and we went for a bike ride. Now, this sounds like nothing particularly interesting… but I haven’t cycled since I was 11! I had a sore bottom and I’m not sure it was for me! But it was actually a lot more enjoyable than I was expecting!

It’s been quite a foodie week, and from a diet perspective less good, but it’s been really lovely. Back on plan from tomorrow 🙂

So in order to make myself blog regularly I’ve decided to make this a regular Wednesday feature! For the simple reason that I did it on Wednesday last week.

This week I have been:

Watching
As well as almost everything we were watching last week (except Masterchef – yay Simon!!) we’ve added in some extra shows:

Peter Kay’s Car Share – We like most things that Peter Kay has done and the first 3 eps of this show were brilliant. We can’t wait for the next one!
Suits – We’re watching season 3 of this lawyer based show. Set in NYC (loved it, can’t wait to go back!) This is another netflix show and we’re trying hard not to binge watch it.
Revenge – This very silly programme is on E4. It is very soap opera-esque! It is getting even more silly as the series is in it’s 4th season. But very glam and compelling watching.

Reading
Last week I didn’t get very far with my either of the 2 books I was reading. My friend picked up an Alex Kava book for me from the charity shop, so I’ve been reading that. It’s called “The Perfect Evil”. A crime thriller starring Maggie O’Dell, the FBI agent. I’m really enjoying it and everything else I was reading has been dropped in favour of it!

Enjoying
Getting real post! I love getting letters and in the last 2 weeks I’ve had some from Australia and France. Now I need to find some pretty stationery so that I can write back!

It’s been a busy week, and I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to a long weekend, 3 whole days to chill out a bit and hopefully get a bit of a rest!

Turning 30! A challenge of sorts

Standard

Since Dave turned 30 last year I’ve found myself obsessing about it a bit, I turn 30 next January and it’s been playing on my mind. Now, for get me wrong, I’m not scared, or worried (yet!) I’m just very conscious of it!

So I decided to write a list. Of 30 things I want to achieve in the next year (did I mention it’s my birthday on 25th and I turn 29!?). I don’t want to spend the whole year focussing on the big 3 – 0 instead I want to achieve things in the last year of my 20s!

My list is not full of epic things. They are all relatively achievable. Stretching, but achievable. And unlike my 101 list I’m ready this time to do it. When I’m not travelling I’ll create a new page for it to live on and it means I’ll be blogging hopefully (in fact that is one of the challenges). So once again I’m back, and I’m looking forward to attempting these challenges.

What do you think? Do you have a bucket list or a list of things that you want o achieve? Do you have any advice for turning 30?

A meme – ABC’s. All about me!

Standard

A is for Age: Just turned 28.

B is for Beer of choice: Not a fan of beer, will sometimes enjoy a corona with lime, so ginger beer!

C is for Career: Social Media Manager. I live for all things social media and my job makes me ecstatically happy. Not bad for a politics graduate who had no idea what she wanted to do huh?!

D is for favourite Drink: I’m a coffee drinker, I can do upwards of 4 or 5 mugs a day. I also crave strawberry milkshake from time to time and am trying to increase my water intake.

E is for Essential item you use every day: iphone. It truly is my baby. Which is awful, really! But I hate being without it.

F is for Favourite song at the moment: Stuck in my head at the moment is The Plan B song “She Said” – Dave got me the album for Valentines Day so I can’t wait to listen to the rest.

G is for favourite Game: I don’t really play games, I’m not a computer gamer and I get bored of phone games too.

H is for Home town: I’m a Cambridgeshire girl.

I is for Instruments you play: I don’t play any, I love music, but don’t really have much talent for it. I used to sing inthe church choir.

J is for favourite Juice: I love orange juice with bits in!

K is for Kids: No thank you!! I’ve always said I’m not sure I want them, can barely look after myself etc, but one day, maybe! I like my life as it is, I’m not sure kids wouldn’t mess that up.  Is that selfish?

L is for Last kiss: My goodbye kiss to Dave as I left this morning.

M is for marriage: hopefully… one day.

N is for full Name: I hate being called by my full first name, it sounds ridiculously grown up, I am a Becca, Beck, Becky, Bex, any of these, Rebecca, not so much.  I have a middle name, which is cool, I used to love it more than my first and I’ve never had a problem with my surname.

O is for Overnight hospital stays: None as far as I am aware.

P is for phobias: heights, falling, failure, spiders, mice (thats new!)

Q is for quote: You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.

William W Purkey

R is for biggest Regret: I’m not really sure I have any.  I’ve always believed that you are where you are because of the choices you’ve made, and if you are happy where you are then why would you regret it.  I don’t mean that to sound sanctimonious, i just truly believe there is nothing I regret.

S is for sports: yuk!

T is for Time you wake up: Alarm is generally set for 7, unless i’m in london in which case it is any time from 5am. and weekends its whenever we wake up!

U is for colour of underwear: Today I’ve got a black bra and turquoise pants!

V is for Vegetable you love: everytyhing except peas and beans.  Though I like green beans now.  I really like raw mange tout and baby sweetcorn and also love cauliflower.

W is for Worst Habit: I might perhaps be a nose picker. I also snore. And talk in my sleep.

X is for X-rays you’ve had: I’ve only ever had them at the dentist.

Y is for Yummy food you make: My waffleberry pudding is pretty legendary.  I don’t cook very often.

Z is for Zodiac sign: Aquarius, unless the 13th sign changed it all!

Day 05 – Your Favourite Quote.

Standard

I’ve got a thing about quotes.  I used to have one at the bottom of my email signature that I changed regularly.  Maybe I should redo that.  But the best quote that has ever been shared with me is the following

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Gandhi said this, and I truly think it is a wonderful sentiment to live by.  It feels so powerful, its not just about treating others how you want to be treated, or believing in yourself, though I do think this is part of the message, but to me it feels like it is saying, go out there and make things happen, for you, your family and the rest of the world.  Don’t just accept the norm, make change happen.  And that is pretty special.

So, blog readers, go out there and make things happen for you and the people you love.  Noone else will.

Day 04 – Your Favourite Book

Standard

I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read!

I should totally make a list of all the books I’ve read this year (that is a whole other blog post though!)

I’m going to cheat though, and not pick a book but a series of books.  I love the Rizzoli and Isles series of books by Tess Gerritsen. Jane Rizzoli is a tough guy cop and Maura Isles is the medical examiner she works closely with

Day 03 – Your favourite TV show

Standard

Another favourite one…

We watch a lot of TV shows on dvd, I’m sat watching supernatural as we speak!

I think though, my all time favourite one would have to be Veronica Mars – Kristen Bell plays the feisty teenage PI who helps her father solve mysteries all across town.  Its such a great show – I was gutted it never got past 3 seasons.

Day 02 – Your favourite movie

Standard

Oooh another tough one.

I think today might have to have a list…

  • I love Blade (and the rest of the trilogy)
  • Big fan of The Commitments (see yesterdays discussion on my love of soul music)
  • Calamity Jane – great film, always makes me feel happy
  • I love love love 10 things I hate about you

I think this challenge might get hard if I have to chose favourites of everything!

Friday 5 – All things RED

Standard

I’ve decided to try and take part in the Friday Five from www.friday5.org and this week the theme is RED!

  1. What is your favorite red food?

I think I would have to say Strawberries! And especially all things strawberry flavoured.  My particular favourite (though it’s pink rather than red) is strawberry milkshake

2.  When were you last caught red-handed?

I don’t think I’ve ever done anything that has warranted being caught red handed!

3.  What’s your nicest red article of clothing?

Every girl should own a pair of red shoes, I have a pair that I got for J and Kaz’s wedding and they are the sexiest shoes I’ve ever owned! They have a stiletto heel and a stacked heel.  They are a deep red and I lurve them!

4.  Who’s got the loveliest red hair?

I think I’m gonna have to say Nicole Kidman, I adore her hair.

5.  What are your thoughts on the 2002 Baz Luhrmann film Moulin Rouge!

I’ve never seen it!
