Dave always finds it strange that I’ve not seen a few “classic” films:
- Most of the star wars films
- Most of the James Bond films
- Pretty much any horror film!
And today on Facebook someone mentioned his girlfriend hadn’t seen Wayne’s World.
It got me thinking – what films are real “must sees” for me? And what about you? What is a must see film?
I think mine would be:
- The Blade Trilogy
- The Commitments
- Elf
- Dogma
So…. Over to you… Must see films, who knows, maybe you’ll convince me to add it to my 100….
The Hunt for Red October is one of my favourite films, but I have a thing for sub movies. Fight Club is worth seeing; I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it is, but it stands up to repeated viewings and I think that says a lot. Wayne’s World + Bill & Ted are movies from my teens, but I can understand them not appealing to others. I’ve been slowly working my way through a selection of the IMDB Top 250 – not everything there is to my taste, but it’s made me watch a number of things I wouldn’t have considered, but have enjoyed a lot.
Maybe I have an excuse to buy this now then?
You should really watch Star wars though and perhaps a few classic horror films, perhaps The Shining?
Star Trek, the latest one about the early years. Brilliant. If you wanted to go more towards culture rather than the horror flicks, try ‘Conviction’. not a great movie but a riveting story. Well I thought so.
I quite enjoyed the most recent star trek, despite not really seeing much before.
Pulp Fiction
Oooh. I always forget Tarantino films!
Dogma! I love that Alanis Morissette is God (although I’m not entirely sure I agree with God being a woman but that’s a whole other argument) My brother always quotes the bit with Alan Rickman “What you going to do? Hit me with that fish!!!” or “I’m as anatomically incorrect as a ken doll” (or something like that I’m usually too busy laughing at my brother’s impressions lol)
Hook – I watched the end of it for the first time in ages yesterday – I’d forgotten how much I love it!! I never realised until yesterday that Dustin Hoffman is Hook and how good he is at playing a baddie – it’s kinda scary lol.
Must See Films: Pulp Fiction, Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro, Star Wars (Episode 4-6 not 1-3), Star Trek (newer one not so much the older ones), Raiders of The Lost Ark. If you want to watch a Zombie film but don’t want the full on Romero Zombie’s then Shaun of the Dead is the place to start.
Pulp Fiction,
