So in order to make myself blog regularly I’ve decided to make this a regular Wednesday feature! For the simple reason that I did it on Wednesday last week.

This week I have been:

Watching
As well as almost everything we were watching last week (except Masterchef – yay Simon!!) we’ve added in some extra shows:

Peter Kay’s Car Share – We like most things that Peter Kay has done and the first 3 eps of this show were brilliant. We can’t wait for the next one!
Suits – We’re watching season 3 of this lawyer based show. Set in NYC (loved it, can’t wait to go back!) This is another netflix show and we’re trying hard not to binge watch it.
Revenge – This very silly programme is on E4. It is very soap opera-esque! It is getting even more silly as the series is in it’s 4th season. But very glam and compelling watching.

Reading
Last week I didn’t get very far with my either of the 2 books I was reading. My friend picked up an Alex Kava book for me from the charity shop, so I’ve been reading that. It’s called “The Perfect Evil”. A crime thriller starring Maggie O’Dell, the FBI agent. I’m really enjoying it and everything else I was reading has been dropped in favour of it!

Enjoying
Getting real post! I love getting letters and in the last 2 weeks I’ve had some from Australia and France. Now I need to find some pretty stationery so that I can write back!

It’s been a busy week, and I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to a long weekend, 3 whole days to chill out a bit and hopefully get a bit of a rest!

In a blatant act of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery I am borrowing this post idea from the lovely Hannah who starts every week with a list of things that she is up to. So here is my list of things keeping my attention at the moment.

Watching

We are big TV watchers in our house, we are currently looking at whether we want to keep our sky subscription or give it up in favour of just having netflix. Watch this space. But the TV shows we’re currently loving are:

Modern Family – One of few programmes we watch on the day they air. This funny, sweet sitcom is so uplifting.
Elementary – Love this show. When I first heard that they had Lucy Liu on board to play Watson I was really anti, but she has totally won me over!
Person of Interest – This was originally a netflix find but we are now watching it on channel 5 on real telly.
Masterchef – We’re into finals week for this year!
Bear Grylls The Island – We loved this last year and are really enjoying the boy/girl split this year.

I’m sure there are lots lots more, but these are the main ones this week.

Reading

Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout – This was on the TV over winter but we didn’t watch it, I picked the book up in the charity shop. It is ok, but I’m not enamoured with it. I want a more in depth story instead of lots of little ones with a few of the same characters. I’ll persevere.
Pillow Talk by Freya North – picked up at the same time as Olive. I’ve just started it in between readings of Olive for a break. I haven’t gotten very far.

Looking forward to

We have a busy May coming up, lots of exciting things to do! One of my lovely girls is getting married at the start of the month and my sister turns 30, so we have a party and a girly weekend away!

So there we have it, a brief window on my world. I’m sure I will expand on this more as the weeks go on, but this is just a little look…

Moofix – A side project

So, I wanted to tell you a little bit about a side project I’ve been working on…

You may or may not have gathered from some of my other posts that I’m a prolific reader and adore books.  Well, when my friend J offered me the chance to help him out making books who was I to turn down the opportunity!

So ladies and gents, I give you Moofix! We are a local publisher, looking for books and authors.  We all love reading and books and we’re really excited to launch our very first book very soon 🙂

I’m dealing with the marketing side, particularly social media (no really?!) so would love it if you could all come and say hello on our facebook page and get the discussions going.

Have a great day, and seriously, pick up a book!

Book Recommendations! Monica Pradhan “The Hindi-Bindi Club”

Standard

As a part of my 30 by 30 challenge, I’ve been trying to read a lot, I’m currently at 51 books, and I really wanted to tell you about number 51.

The Hindi-Bindi Club, by Monica Pradhan

I was looking for something new to read at the library and this book was in the “Staff recommendation” section, so I picked it up after a cursory glance (I’m a judge a book by its cover girl!) and added it to my pile.

I really want you to read it, because this book is beautiful, so I’m not going to tell you too much about it.  It tells the story of 3 families really, the mothers who went to America when they were young, from various parts of India, and their daughters who were born in America, bought bought up with a dual heritage. It really is a case of East meets West and I fell in love slightly, both with Monica Pradhan’s India, and the book.

I sat reading it on the bus and when I got near the end I found myself tearing up, which is very embarrassing.  The bonus of this lovely story is the gorgeous recipes littered throughout, including the notes from each of the people who wrote them.  If you check out the website you can see more lovely recipes and read the messages left by people (including me) who were touched by the book.

If you do feel the desire to buy this book, I’ve added an amazon affiliate link below, which it would be lovely if you do use 🙂

So, over to you, what book has touched you recently? I’ve still got 49 books to read! What would you recommend?

Crowd Pleaser

Standard

I have been asked to blog more frequently, so here I am, trying to blog more!

Its been a bit crazy the last week or so, and sadly not in a crazy good way.  Some stuff is going on at work.  As part of a restructure, at the moment, my job isn’t carrying on.  This doesn’t necessarily mean redundancy, but it is a possiblity.  I’m scared, and angry and trying to get my head round all of this stuff and make big decisions.

Other than that, things are going well, Dave and I have both just celebrated birthdays, his in a much less drunken manner than mine! I have to tell you, 10 bacardi jelly shots (I’m not allowed vodka, it makes me cry!) makes for an interesting evening!

I’ve been missing people lots recently.  I miss my fambly, and I miss my friends.  I want to reach out and grab people as much as possible, but that could get me arrested!  No, seriously, I’m acutely aware of the distances between myself and other people at the moment… Tom, Sarah – when are you coming to visit!?!?

I’ve updated my 101 a bit, a few more things going on now, nearly finished my first book of 100, although, thinking I might change it to 101 books, in keeping with the theme!

Well, I think this constitutes a blog entry, I’ll write more when I can, and keep you updated on the J O B situation.

Update on my list!
