Dave bought me tickets to see Avenue Q at the Theatre Royal in Norwich as a part of my birthday present and last Thursday night was finally time to go see it. I was ridiculously excited!
I’ve wanted to go and see the show for a few years and whenever I see a poster on the tube I want to see it even more, so to finally get to see it, and without having to traipse 2 hours down to the West End made me a happy girl.
For those of you that don’t know the show it is a musical, with PUPPETS! And people, there are puppets and people and the people that operate the puppets can be seen too, it’s a bit complicated to explain, but works really well.
The story is about a graduate called Preston, who moves to Avenue Q in New York after graduating, he is looking for his purpose. Preston and his friends are all looking for meaning, or love, or a job, or porn! It’s a great story, with some amazing songs that stick in your head – FOREVER!!
It was a really good show, I enjoyed every minute of it and laughed all the way through. It also made me realise how much I love the theatre. We had our dinner in the theatre restaraunt beforehand which was pretty cool. They also hold your table for the interval, and you can order your drinks or dessert at dinner. A simple, elegant concept.
I had a wonderful night, loved the show and would love to see it again! I’d also like to see something in the West End, so if anyone has any suggestions I’d be grateful to hear them…
